Welcome to the first annual Healthy Me Week - a national campaign to get kids aware of what it actually takes to be healthy. It doesn't have to be work...in fact, it should be piles of fun.
With childhood obesity rates growing at alarming rates, TVO is partnering with media organizations across Canada from June 4 to 10 to inspire and motivate Canadian families to take action and embrace healthy, active living.
To kick off the week TVO is teaming up with the YMCA, inviting families to come out to Healthy Kids Day on Sunday June 3. Admission is free, and TVO will be on the ground at two locations in Toronto. TVOKids hosts Kara Harun and Dalmar Abuzeid will be at the Central YMCA in downtown Toronto at 9:30am leading family dance classes, and the North York YMCA beginning at 2:30pm, participating in an obstacle course - active and fun! Dalmar will report on highlights from the day on TVOKids throughout Healthy Me Week. TVOParents producers Albert Wisco and Karen Bridson will also be at the North York YMCA, capturing the event, and sharing healthy me tips, so come by and say hello!
TVOParents has explored the ties between being healthy living and kids' learning - from nutrition and healthy weights, to the value of sports - check it all out. And why not tell us Your Favourite Place to Play in Ontario, we're mapping everyone's ideas.
