Wow. We have three voters in our house. My son is now old enough to vote.

This morning, my husband, my son and I walked over to our local school to vote. Together. This may sound incredibly geeky, but I was so thrilled that my son was with us, doing his civic duty and voting. I wanted to take a picture, but I wasn't sure how that would go over in the polling station. Besides, he would have killed me.

I think it's crucial that we participate in our democracy. I think long and hard about who I will vote for. I vote in every single election. I'm hoping my son will, too.

We certainly talk about politics at our house - not as much as some others, I'm sure, but enough to give our kids the sense that politics are important to our daily lives. I tell them they will have no right to complain about policies they dislike if they don't participate in elections.

So, another important milestone reached in our home. I wonder who he voted for.
